A pledge is a note to yourself. You want to give someone something but the balance is not there right now, so you write it down and come back to it. Three things are worth being clear about:
  • No money moves. Nothing is reserved, held or deducted.
  • The recipient is not told. They cannot see it and there is no way for them to ask. A pledge is not a promise anyone can hold you to.
  • You can remove it at any time, without explaining.
One exception to the second point: if the wallet you pledged to belongs to someone whose employment ends, they are told how many open pledges were cancelled. A number only — never who made them or how much.

Making a pledge

Pledging sits inside the normal send flow. Enter an amount — you are allowed to enter more than you have — and the review screen offers both Send and Pledge. If your balance covers it, Send leads; if it does not, Pledge does. You can add a short note. It is the message that goes to the recipient when you settle, the same as a note on an ordinary send — so write it for them, not for yourself. If several pledges to the same person are combined into one payment, only the most recent note is sent. No PIN is asked for, because nothing is moving.

Settling

Wallet → Pledges lists what is outstanding, each with a countdown showing how many days it has left. Tick the ones you want to pay and confirm once — a single PIN covers the whole batch. Pledges to the same person are combined into one payment, so you may see fewer payments than the number you ticked. You do not have to settle everything at once. Tick more than your balance covers and the pay button tells you how much you are over, so you can deselect a few; Select what I can afford picks as many as your balance allows. If one payment fails the others still go through, and the failed one returns to your list. Settling is an ordinary send. There is no fee, and the person receives it exactly as they would any other payment — they cannot tell it began as a pledge.

Expiry

Pledges do not last forever. Each one shows how long it has left, and after that it drops off the list. Nothing happens financially, because nothing was ever held. If you still want to give, make a new one.
Pledged and meant to send? Nothing has left your wallet and the person has not been told anything. Open Pledges, tick it, and settle.
